The Book that Changed my Life

I wouldn’t call myself a “reader,” but every now and then I’ll come across a book that makes me consider taking it up as an actual, real-life, adult hobby. I read the Harry Potter series when I was younger, but only after obsessing over the first 3 movies and finally getting sick of everyone telling me, “the book is soooooo much better.” (//we’ve all been there, ok) Now-a-days if I’m going to read something, it better be quick, it better be motivating, and it better relate to my life in some shape or form. Hit me with some knowledge or hit the road, you know?

The one book that has truly made the BIGGEST impact on little old me is: Nice Girls Don’t get the Corner Office by Lois P. Frankel. This book takes you through all kinds of common and (not so common) mistakes women tend to make that sabotage their own careers. Let me be real for a second: this book will probably embarrass you. You’ll find yourself face-palming 95% of the time when you realize you might (//definitely) have made a few of these mistakes she mentions. It gets better: she also provides coaching tips on how to make sure you don’t make these mistakes (//again, for some of them). This book has helped me advance my career in ways that may not have been available to me if I continued with some of my behaviors in the past.

Even if you aren’t a “career-woman”, this book is so much more than that. You will learn basic life skills that are SO beneficial in making people take you seriously and appreciate you for the badass chick you are. HUGE PLUS: it may look semi-thick, but it’s a super quick read. 10/10, totally recommend.
